Wostok "East" has developed into the largest Russian trade name ,and since 1961 it is the official watch for the Soviet Millitary.For it's 60th anniversary -a total of 5 different models has been made to celebrate the event-one each for the parachute,tank,marines,infantry divisions and one for the headquarter.By the end 0f the 60s , a famous "Komandirskie" (for commanders) "Generalskie" (for generals) and "Admiralskie" (for admirals) watches has been issued.Wostok watches is well-known for the reliability and toughness.Famous calibers such as 2209,2414,2409,2416,2609 is often being collected by the Germans and most of the Europeans.All watches for millitary purposes are marked with "3AKA3 MO CCCP" ( by order of the Ministry of Defense of USSR) .During 60s and 70s "Komandirskie" watches could only be purchased in special authorised store in Soviet Union and only reserved for millitary officers.The buyers have to indentify himself by uniform or millitary pass before buying the watches.Each Soviet town had stores catered exclusively to the millitary.This is the uniqueness of the USSR watches!

Very antique watch and I have no chance to find out the description for this partiocular model.Made in around 1950s to 1960s at First Moscow watch factory, subsidiary seconds with solid steel dial, 17 jewels , red surface ,with shock and water resistance.In order to make sure the watch is really water resistance, the back cover have to add another layer of rubber ring. This particular watch had sold to Mr Kamal.

For minor repair or refurbishment like surface cleaning , time not accurate , stop functioning , oilling ,crown replace is not an issue in my country.If the problem is serious then we have to search for parts in neighbouring country like Singapore.

Some of the watches is made by recycle millitary equipment like bullets , jet fighter body , machine gun,tanker and even submarine.During world war 2 ,a number of abandoned and destroyed millitary equipments and weapons had been sold to watch maker company and they had that this opportunity to recycle it into watches.That's why made in USSR WATCHES IS TOUGH!

Pobeda Order in Victory Pocket watch

My latest pocket watch collection had been sold to one of my American friend, Mr Steiner for RM 350.Im very reluctant to sell this ,very rare Pobeda pocket watch decorated with the Order of Victory in blue and red which is the highest Russian Order.CCCP words with a star in between written up.Only six orders were made and the backlid stated so called "Great Patriotic War" of 1941-1945.Mr Steiner you better take care this watch and I will spot check you from time to time!Make sure you treat this watch like your wife!

This is the second batch of my USSR watches,I m doing refurbishment on it.I will shine, touch up,brush up,checking the mechanical and strap on. I m learning to change the spare parts but I can't really master the technique 100%.My latest development is to change the coil and pull out the crown for glass cleaning.Sometimes I repaired untill 7 morning.Once I do it Im stuck on it.Trying my best to buy Russian watch repair guide book.I can't really find in my country.

Good news to all USSR watches lovers in Malaysia.I have newly set up a store in Mid Valley Mega Mall to showcase some of my collection there.In my country not many people love this watch because of the unknown brand to them.Most of Malaysian is very brand concious, they prefer Swiss,American and Japanese brand.For the Chinese Malaysian, everytime I mention Komandirskie Military watches from Russia they will associate this watch with dead man properties.What the hell?Almost every antique value items owned by somebody long time ago,that's why is call 'antique'.Even the land that you step on or the places you go there's a possibility somebody die before.Everywhere is the same.I always tell them you must appreciate the USSR watches history in order to fall in love with it.You must think positive, imagine this watches wore by a brave soldier trying to protect the people and the country?A cosmonaut to space? Yuri Georgiyevich Shargin (Russian: Юрий Георгиевич Шаргин) is a cosmonaut in the Russian Space Forces.
He was born March 20, 1960 in Engels, Russian.Shargin graduated from the Military Engineering Academy for Aeronautics and Astronautics located in Leningrad. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Russian Space Forces.
He was selected as a cosmonaut on February 9, 1996.
He was selected in 2004, to be the Flight Engineer on the Soyuz TMA-5 mission to the International Space Station. Shargin was the first Russian military cosmonaut on board and had a secret mission. "Circling the earth in the orbital spaceship, I marvelled at every beauty of our planet. People of the world! Let us safeguard and enhance this beauty forever, do not destroy it."

Yuri Gagarin was born in the village of Klushino near Gzhatsk (now in Smolensk Oblast, Russia), on the 9th of March 1934. Born to farmer parents, he was the third child in the Gagarin family. During his childhood, he shown great brilliance in mathematics and science. Yuri joined the Soviet Air Force in 1955 and graduated with honors from the Soviet Air Force Academy in 1957. Shortly afterwards, he became a military fighter pilot. By 1959, he was selected by the Soviet government to become a Russian Cosmonaut as part of the first group of the Russian Space Programme. On April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit Earth The name of his spacecraft was Vostok 1. Vostok 1 was divided to two sections. One section was for Yuri alongside the passanger seat and rest area. The second section was for supplies of oxygen,food and water. Vostok 1 circled Earth at a speed of 27,380 kilometers per hour. The flight lasted 108 minutes. Once in orbit, Yuri Gagarin had no control over his spacecraft. Vostok's reentry was controlled by a computer program sending radio commands to the space capsule. Although the controls were locked, a key had been placed in a sealed envelope in case an emergency situation made it necessary for Gagarin to take control. Yuri Gagarin did not land inside of Vostok 1. He ejected from the spacecraft and landed by parachute.Yuri Gagarin is often referred to as "The Columbus of The Cosmos". Unfortunately Yuri Gagarin was killed in a plane crash before he could travel in space a second time on March, 27 1968. Today the Russian government has built a memorial park to recognize his achievement towards the country.

History of Vostok
The Vostok Company was founded in 1942 when one of the Moscow watch-making plants of the First Moscow Watch Factory was evacuated to Chistopol, a small town located on the Kama River in Tatarstan. At first the Vostok company only produced millitary equipment during World War II and when the war was over they started to produced wristwatches for millitary and government personell. However, the company did not begin using the "Vostok" brand name until the 1960s. The company was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Defense Department of the Soviet Union in 1965. The year also marks the creation of the well known "Komandirskie" (Commander's) watch. As time is of utmost accuracy for the millitary, the Komandirskie was a special built watch for millitary and it is famous for its accuracy, toughness and reliability under any circumstances. The above picture is one of the Komandirskie watches built for the Russian Air Force. Comes with 25 jewels, stainless steel, hard metal back cover, adjustable bezel, 40mm diameter, date adjustment with Sukhoi pictures on surface, this model is worth collecting. Made in Russia, rare in market.

Model of Russian airplane carrier divisions, calibre 2416 with 21 jewels self winding, chromium plated amphibia case , date adjustment, light blue surface bearing the powerful Soviet carrier 'Admiral Kusnezov', made in Soviet Union. On top is the Russian double headed eagle, the USSR navy flag is engraved. If found, please put this it in your collection list as this millitary watch has limited numbers in the market.

Komandirskie Russian Airplane Carrier Division 1

The description and function of this particular model is identical to the above, the only differences being the color of the bezel and surface. This watch was designed for the Soviet Navy since 1970s.

History of Pobeda
After the World War Two, most Soviet watch factories purchased equipment, tools and machinery from Germany in order to establish the ruined watch industry. As the equipment was very new, the Soviets were able to produce modern movements of that time with high class finishing. Originally Pobeda watches are made in the town of Samara (known as Kuibischev) and later taken over by the First Moscow Watch Factory (now Poljot) and started producing K-26 ("Pobeda") in 1946. The "Pobeda" movement is a very reliable movement. Many of them can run up to 40 to 60 years old with little defect. "Pobeda" (victory) is famed for making commomeration watches with interesting pictures and occassionally cartoon characters on the watch surface. Pobeda produced approx. 2.7 million watches annually in Soviet Union before the Cold War.

Pobeda "Speaking to Angels"
This limited edition watch bearing the Three Angels surface is very rare in the market. Pobeda produced this watch for the contribution of the Christian community in Russia during the war. Made since 1970s, this watch became a collector's item among watch lovers. Picture shown displays three angels sitting together with Roman numeral and subsidiary seconds. Manual winding, 15 jewels, stainless steel body and back cover, mineral glass and non-water resistance due to the age.

Pobeda " Hammer and Sickle"

History of Poljot
The first watch in Space was not Swiss or American made - it was by the proud Soviet Union. "Poljot" (flight) was produced by the First Moscow Watch Factory. Poljot was the first Russian watch granted permission by the Soviet government to export overseas. On April 12th 1961 the great Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space, and throughout his mission he wore a Sturmanskie (Navigator) pilots' wristwatch, where the name was changed to Poljot in 1963. Later,Poljot watches were taken to space flights by astronauts from several countries such as France, Russia, Ukraine,Uzbekistan and Germany. Poljot is known as a leader of high technology and produces wristwatches of excellent quality, confirmed by the fact that the administration of the President of Russia has chosen a Poljot "3133" watch as a government award. Today Poljot is among the top 100 branded watches in th World.

Okeah Chronograph (Ocean)
The Navigator's watch "Sturmanskie" was made by special request of the Air Force in 1949. Sturmanskie watches were designed and manufactured especially for the Air Force and did not go on sale to the general public and were given to pilots together with the graduation diplomas. Model Okeah (ocean) are Poljot made mechanical movement watches that were worn by Soviet Cosmonauts on their space missions since the 1960s. Comes with rotating bezel, date indicator at 6pm, calibrated for 12 hour, stainless steel case, stop function and 30 minutes register. Using the Poljot 3133 with silver blue surface and 23 jewels ,this watch is very rare in the market.Measurement : W-36mm x L-40mm ,D-48mm. In December 11th 1993, an auction at Sotheby's New York sold this watch for USD 6,325. The auctioned Okeah had been worn by Cosmonaut Razhdestvensky during the flight and was involved in the dramatic recovery of the Russian Sojus 23 capsule in 1976. Maybe this particular model will become the next Russian's national treasure, who knows?

History of Raketa
The Soviet men's wristwatch made by the watchmaker Petrodvoretz (RAKETA) at Peterhof, St. Petersburg. RAKETA (Rocket) is one of the oldest watchmakers in Russia. Besides producing watches,Raketa also producees military and civil equipment such as panel clocks, boat, MIG aircraft and submarine accessories.

Raketa World GMT
This is a Raketa watch with caliber engine 2609 with 19 jewels and a very unique design, carrying the names of major world cities and their time zone. Made from gilded case with black enamelled bezel, stainless steel back. Below the blue surface is a mark with 'CCCP' wording. Made at the end of the 80s. Diameter is 4.1cm. Built with shock resistance, date and day of the week indicator. Very popular in Europe, collectors started to collect this after the collapse of USSR.

Raketa (roman numerals)

Roman numerals are commonly used in numbered lists on clock and wristwatches face regardless of any brand. Roman numerals are high in demand among watch collectors. This Raketa model is using calibre 2609 engine with 17 jewels. Built with stainless steel, hard metal snap on back cover with white surface. Gold color needles with 'Made in USSR' wording below the surface. Elegant and classic design, suitable for formal functions.

In 1929 ,twenty-one former Dueber-Hampden watchmakers, engravers and various other technicians helped to train the Russian workers in the art of watchmaking as part of the Soviet's First Five-Year Plan. In 1935 the factory was named after the murdered Soviet official Sergei Kirov. As the Germans closed in on Moscow in 1941, the factory was hurriedly evacuated to Zlatoust(Russian: Златоу́ст). By 1943 the Germans were in retreat, and the factory moved back to Moscow, adopting the "First Moscow Watch Factory" name (Russian: Первый Московский Часовой Завод - 1МЧЗ).
Today Russian watches are one of the top 100 branded watches in the world. Poljot and Wostok broke through the European market in the 60s and along with Sturmanskies, become a collectible item due to of the USSR Space Program. In those days, most USSR watches are limited to Communist high ranking officers, cosmonauts, astronauts, police, millitary and secret agents. The watches would be surrendered back to the government once they resign or retire from their job, and as such no ordinary citizen are allowed to own such a watch.

This is the first batch of Russian and Soviet Union made watches that I owned before. Most of this watches have been given away or sold to my dearest friends. The models include the famous 'Komandirskie' in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of founding of the atomic submarine, 'Komandirskie' for Tank Divisions, Raketa Caliber 2628, Russian double Headed Eagle, Caliber 2427,27 jewels automatic winding with rotor, Russian and the Andrejevski flag of the Marines and many more.All these models are very unique, where they have their own history and commeration purposes. After I sold each model, I never saw a second unit again. This are the watches that give me great memories. I have worn every unit and I must say it is an honour to have once owned this watch before. This particular model was made to commemorate the celebration of the Moscow Olympic in 1980. Made in USSR, mineral glass, green surface bearing Olympic logo 'Mockba' (Moscow). Not tested for water resistance,running condition, manual winding, subsidiary seconds, calibre 46336 stainless steel, metal case back cover, measurement :4cmx3.8cmx4.5cm .Rare model, limited edition.
